the gig in venna was well cool to all who are interested. the festival ran from fri to sat so wasnot the usual sort of festival. one other important note is that the whole shebang was arranged and put on by no other than himself. mr darren russel. must say that this guy knows how to put on agood do and a good do it was too. you had the likes of cock sparrer headlinin on the saturday and i must say, wot a turn out they had. i reckon their must have been about 3 to 4000 people there to watch em and they did not dssapoint. i also caught neville staples and band runnin through his customary list of specials classics. the band who were bloody excellent and mr staples himself were really good gettin the crowd skankin and pogoing and really were a nice editon to the proceedings. this was all on the main outdoor stage. meanwhile their was a small indoor stage which had some excllent bands on too. namely resistance 77 who put on a 100% SHOW GETTIN THE CROWD WELL revved. anyway. enough of blowi

Without question on of the finest 80's punk bands. Mad punx and porky men are two ultra strong releases. The thing is, the chase is on and survival of the fittest are THE BEST two songs to date.Where legends began . was well fine but a bit avant garde for todays tastes.Just stick the two said songs in the set and every ones a winner

The Fall of Max - working on the others The Fall of Max Do you remember I told you a story About Max the Millionaire He had all his inherited money Piled up in stocks and shares For years he’d been a meanie Kept his money to himself Thought he knew the best way And refused financial help Chorus Fall of Max Fall of Max Fall of Max Once a Millionaire- blew it in the air Fall of Max Fall of Max Fall of Max Then one cold winter’s morning He has a letter from the bank Could you please pay attention I am afraid I’ll have to be frank You see all your invested money Tied up in oil and cotton Has taken a turn for the worse And you account has reached rock bottom It was more of less three years later And Max the once rich man Had slipped below the poverty line Eating from a baled bean can And it was the next morning’s paper At the bottom of page nine That a tramp thought to be Max Was found hanging from a washing line.

Leester, english dogs land

World War Two World war three is all the rage Problem child of a nuclear age Push button missiles on radio control I don’t wanna die before I get old That’s the crap we always hear Doomsday’s coming, almost here Why not remember the last world war I hope, for one, there’ll be no more Why doesn’t anyone sing about world war two Examples should be made of forty-five When the people were lucky to survive The hell all around for those sic years Should be a constant reminder in all our fears No-one sings about the last world war ‘Cos modern poets can’t remember any more Modern Zombies with a one-track mind Of world war three that will kill mankind Why doesn’t anyone sing about world war two.

MR CRIPPLE, MR KING and anyone else who made it over from grantham town. as per usual respect goes out to GREN and KRISTA [film crew] who always goes beyond the call of duty and allows us to be able to keep the memories for years to come. i love playin for the dogs and with every bodys enthusiasm, in the not to distant future, a fine album will be released from one of the BEST UK82 bands. bring it on. another band that we would love to hear from regards doin some gigs is DOGSFLESH who i met whilst giggin in czech republic. if any of you lot read this, get in touch please as it again it would be good to hook up and play some rip roaring maximum rock n roll. see y;all.

Hello again from down under. I've been away for a couple of weeks and just saw your response to my last post. It'd be great to see THE ENGLISH DOGS over here and even better should THE FAR KINGS support you. Tried out a new bassist last week, he went ok, he'll go better once he knows our songs. Your message incites and inspires me to wake the youth of Perth from their comatose musical lethargy and get them thrashing around like lunatics instead (a gargantuan task).Cheers, CLERJ.

i notice that their have been various questions regards goin to the u.s. of a. and various reasons why the band will not play there. to clear the mair, this is how it is. stu who is ME got a three year sentance for drug dealing in 1990. now everyone knows that if you go tom america without goin through the relevant sources, their is a good chance of being turned away as you enter the fukin place. well me being the reformed and considerte twat that i am thought it would be best to be honest and up front so as not to make a right prick of myself and cause unneccesary resentment from the band, the promoters and ultimately the people who want to come and see the new reformed dogs. anyway i went through all the relevant channels to try and recieve a visa so that we could make some arrangements to come over. as it happens, the bastards made me wait all day and then quite calmly refused to issue a visa. for this all i can say is SORRY to the guys in the band and also to the people in the stat

Now then John, as you know I'm far too young to remember the English Dogs the first time round ! But I saw you play at Old Angel and in Blackpool in the summer, great atmosphere at both gigs. I've got to say it's amazing how the botox treatment and various other cosmetic operations have left the band looking as youthful as ever, that and the glasses of lucozade and high energy drinks you all were knocking back before the gig, you still have the strength to play at top pace. Shame the fat Damned drummer couldn't join you but that trained gurning monkey you have in his place fits in well, and he's handy to trim some of those grey nose hairs if needed ! Wakey top front man as always, and I imagine all promoters are relieved to know he no longer shits in their shoes or does he ? Nice to see the big guy in black seeing you sa

Grumfam, Lincs

i can gladly say that i dont think pete really feels the need to do defecate in the most weird of places anymore, but i have to admit that the bastard once shit in my bath which at the time was full of my clothes which were in the process of bein washed. i also got banned from a local pub because of bein gulity by association coz pete thought it a good idea to offload his arse all over the pubs urinals. the fukin landlord thought it was me who had done the dastardly deed. all that aside lets pay tribute to the best frontman of punk rock. the best is yet to come. I'm stoked to hear you guys are still pounding out the punk and would love to catch you live. Alas i'm in Australia (and have been for the last 20 yrs). The punk scene here is fucked, so I started my own band, we're called THE FAR KINGS and hope we can get the punk movement kicking along in sleepy old Perth. We've done three gigs so far but our bassist has left and so until we find someone to take her place have had to put the gigging on hold. Keep up the good work guys, I fucking love THE ENGLISH DOGS, you play punk like it ought to be, hard and fast.I hope my lot do the punk movement you've been so involved in for so long proud.

Perth, Western Australia, Australia

Hey C.E.D.S, there might be a chance of us coming over to aussie land at some point. We had a natter with Jason from Bastard Squad at Rebellion and we're looking to sort something. Maybe we could do a gig with yer band, that would be farking good eh (ha ha). hope to see you over there mate and by the time we come you might have revived the punk movement single handed. Cheers and all the best.

Hey Jon you haven't changed much still way back when. You remember Senile Decay (Punk as Fuck!) and practising in the back of the Joiners Arms? First time I saw Englaish Arms was upstairs at the Earlsfield Arms! Fuck what gig that was. PS. Wakey I remember the gig at the Barracks: beer all over my brand new combie and semi-naked girls!!

Grantham

i tell you what mate theres two firsts there! Senile Decay was the first band I was in (on bass) and the Earlsfield Arms was the first gig the Dogs did. I'm wondering how you knew about Decay 'cus we never did a gig and only had about 5 rehearsals so i'm wondering who you are, maybe an x band member ? The barracks..hey hey what a gig eh!!? see you soon mate. Cheers Jon.

Hey its great to see your back, I saw the English Dogs first at the end of 83 or could have been 84 with the UK Subs and major Accident, Wakey must have just left around then I think. Then I saw you at the Gallery in Manchester in 85. Looking forward to Leeds in November. One question, I myself liked 'the ends of the earth' 12" and 'forward into battle' LP, although I didn't particularly like the metal scene back then. I always wondered did the English Dogs ever manage to get as bigger following in the metal scene as they already had in the punk scene?

Manchester

it stayed about the same johny. there were those who still liked the new stuff and kept on following us and those that didn't and no longer bothered. but interestingly those that dropped away were replaced by those that liked the new style in equal numbers and so our following didn't really change much.

Hey guys, I seen one of your shirts for sale and it says HOOOUUUPP THERE!, I know this is a dumb question, but where is that from?

the gay us of a

when Ade Baily was in the band back in '85 (vocals) he'd greet people with a 'hey up there' but cus of his Halifax accent we'd take the piss (as all good mates should) cus it would sound more like 'hooouuupp there' ! (only quality slogans on our tees you know!)

Sell out?? Sometimes you have the need to experiment a little with styles, nothing wrong with it.perfectly normal to explore a bitt. If it is not your style (like myself)than it's not directly a sell out. Sorry for my bad grammar.
