COMPETITION TIME !!! Hey you guys we're in the studio next month to record some new tunes and we want one of you budding artists out there to design us a cover for the new CD which is gonna be called: Shut Up and Listen
Its gonna contain six tracks:
-Operation The design doesnt need to be a finished work of art ready for the printers, (although if it is then thats fine). A basic graphic mock up will do, its the visual idea that counts, something that works with the title and it only needs to be the front cover. It doesnt have to be a computerised graphic either, it can be a sketched idea. Now we guess you aint gonna want to put in all that work for nowt and are probably wondering whats in it for you? Well howzabout:
-Accredition on the CD
WOW we're just too fookin generous! If youre interested (who in their right minds aint!), then your design needs to reach us by 13th Sept.

Hope yer all aving a good summer. We've been writing stuff for a new CD over the last few weeks and hoping to record it in July or August. It'll av about 6 tracks and will blow yer fukin' head off!! ha ha. Don't know when it'll be released at the moment tho, will let you know. Lets see now, wot else has been happening....fuck all!
Stoke was a good un the other night. There wasn't as many in as we'd hoped 'cus of some other gig in the area but everyone had a good time and the brollies seemed to go down well....or should that be up well? Anyway cheers to Rick for laying it on and looking forward to doing it again sometime. It was a bonus playing with the Lurkers who used to be one of our top bands before the dogs had even started, back in the days of gas lights and sherbet dips. Hey wot a top gig in Berlin, a big shout to those of you who were able to get yerselves out there. Hopefully we put on a good show for all you punters and looking forward to doin it again next year. 10 February 2008So it was finally time for us to play down the old smoke for the first time since we got back together. The last time this line played together down London town (with Pinch and not Stu) was 24 years ago!! We were hoping for a good 'un and we wern't dissapointed, cheeky little venue and a lively mob made for a well enjoyable gig. Cheers to the Varukers for sorting out what must go down as one of our top three gigs since we kicked off again. Also a big ta to Adam the video junkie for his relentless habit. 27 January 2008A big shout to everyone that turned out to the shed last night, wot a good fukin gig it was, good venue, great set of bands and great punters. Good to see some old faces and make some new mates. 13 January 2008Hey Guys, the London gig has changed venues and will now be at the Medussa Club in Brixton but its still on Feb 9. 9 January 2008Sound the trumpets! After some pretty heavy pressure from some of you bar stewards we've finally got some lyrics on the site. Theres only the porky men lyrics at the mo, but we'll be grabbing the ones from the message board and sticking them on soon so cheers to 'Mad As' and Mick for those. Av a good un. 23 December 2007Well for those of you who hadn't noticed, its nearly christmas and we're all looking forward to visiting relatives and receiving loads of socks. We're thinking of selling some with the dogs logo on, we could make a killing next christmas; more likely kill the fuker who buys us some! Wakey's throat was playing up and half way through the set it fucked up bigtime. This wasn't helped by the PA also screwing up. This led to us having to cancel the Leeds gig but the other bands decided to continue and its a strong lineup so i'm sure those of you who still went had a good night anyway. We're looking to re-arrange for next year so see yer soon. Cheers all...English Dogs x 10 September 2007Hey guys and dolls, just to let yer know we'll be doing the Punk and Disorderly fest in Berlin at the end of Feb '08. Should be a good 'un so be there or be square! 1 September 2007 Now then yer scabby punx and wot av we been up to recently. Well on the gig front we've sorted some pics from the Rebellion fest so check them out. We're waiting for confirmation of a christmas bash in dec at the Vic in Derby and one at the end of jan at the Shed in Leicester, we'll stick them on the gig guide when confirmed. The Varukers are also sorting some gigs with us and the Partisans in feb in London, Birmingham, Boston and Bristol in Feb next year. We're also planning to release some more plastic. We've got another couple of new tracks on the go and intend to release a new 5 or 6 track CD early next year. The merch pages will be ready in the next couple of weeks so get saving yer pennies and when we've done that we're gonna look into setting up and audio and video page so watch this space. Well there was our first gig in Nottingham mentioned below and Rebellion is fast approaching. It should be a good un this year especially cus we're playing :) The last time we did a festival with three of the original lineup was in 2001 at Holidays in the Sun in Morecombe. Hope to be seeing some old mates and making new ones. We're bringing up a load of shirts and badges so save yer pennies and treat yerselves! We keep promising to setup something on the site to sell shirts and badges and stuff. We're a bit closer but not yet in a position to say when we can go live with it. We also wanted to expand the site by getting a lyrics page, an English Dogs 'family' tree, a band biography and a discography, but being a bunch of lazy bastards its slow in coming, although as I write this the lyrics are being worked on by a 'willing' volunteer. We're still short on photos from the Old Angel Gig so if you've got any please email them to us. See yer at Blackpool. July 2007 Sun 29th Hey, great to see so many of you packing the place out at the Old Angel in Notts on Fri night it was good to catch up with lots of old mates so cheers to everyone for turning out and making it an enjoyable night. Doing the old songs and watching the place go wild was f'in great and cheers for the positive feedback on the message board. Thanx to the other bands for an evening of musical mayhem and a big Oi to Iggy for sorting it all out. If anyones got any photos they want to share of the gig either of the bands or people, please email them to us and we'll get them on the site. -------------------------------------------- Previously... Oi Oi punters, its our first gig this month in 23 years and we can't f'in wait. ok so its our first gig ever with this lineup but the last time the three of us old timers played it was all them years ago. They tried to say at the time that punk would die out but no way man, like we say in the lyrics to Never Die, "This punk music will never ever die". So what av we been getting up to this month? Well to start with we've written two new tracks called "The untimely death of a stranger" and "Car crash punk". I can tell you now these are no nonsense in your face kick ass tracks, this is music to mutate to!! Not sure though whether they'll be ready for The Old Angel gig but certainly for the Rebellion fest. We might try and get these on the site when they're a bit more polished. On the Gig front we've sorted a couple of gigs up north in Blackburn and Leeds in November. The Punk & Disorderly festival in Berlin in Feb 2008 still isn't confirmed either but we'll keep yer posted. We've had a load of t-shirts and badges done but we're still trying to sort out getting a merchandise page on the site but its a bitch to write, hopefully it'll come sometime this month. And finally, its good to read all yer messages, keep 'em coming. Cheers for now. June 2007 The start of this month saw the first full rehearsal of the band with Wakey coming up to Grantham from Bridgewater in Somerset. We spent the weekend at the Bradley Bros rehearsal rooms working up all the old tunes. There are two original songs which we never recorded although you might recognise them from Wakey’s previous venture with the Wernt. The first, Pig Dog Killer was one of the first English Dogs songs (pre Mad Punx), Wakey and the Wernt just changed the lyrics (it was originally called Scum) and the second, Mental Breakdown, was also originally ours with the title and lyrics unchanged. There are two new songs written by Wakey whilst with the Swinging Lulus, ‘I need an operation’ and ‘Fucked up people’, both will get yer feet stomping so we’re looking forward to unleashing them. We’re still intending to write some new stuff as well so watch this space, we’ll try and get some tunes on the website at some point. Things are sounding real good so try and get to one of the shows and pin back yer lug ‘oles. We took a few photos while we were there so check them out, we’ll be adding more after each gig. Cheers to all of you that left us a message its good to see them coming in from all over the world. The Australian tribute band made us laugh, they’re probably better than we are !! Then there’s the message from Chile written in Spanish, none of us are too hot at languages so this is beyond us but the word ‘excelente’ must mean we're doing something right and it ends with 'OI! OI! OI!’, I guess there's no equivalent in Spanish!! Are there any translators out there?!! On the gig front we’re trying to sort something in Wakefield and London as well as further afield in Ireland. We're also looking for a slot at the Punk & Disorderly festival in Berlin in Feb 2008. We’ve been sorting some t-shirts, patches and badges ready for the forthcoming gigs and soon you’ll be able to buy these here on the website as well, so watch this space and save yer pennies! That’s it for now so until next month all the best. May 2007 Newsflash!: English Dogs have reformed with three members of the original lineup from 1981. We're currently working on a set which aims to be the Dogs bollox with most of the tracks from the first two records Mad Punx and Porky Men. We don’t intend to do any of the punk/metal crossover stuff but intend to write some new stuff as well which over time will replace all but the old favourites. The lineup is: Wakey – Vocals Wattie – Bass Jon – Guitar Stu – Drums Those of you familiar with the original lineup will notice that Pinch is not with us. He’s up for the band reforming but can’t join us cus of his committments with the Damned, so Stu, who also plays with Resistence 77, is filling Pinch’s shoes. Whether we've made the right decision not to do our later stuff only time will tell. If it becomes clear that the demand is mainly for that then we might have to re-think. What do you think? |
